New City Radio

I am writing to express MK Gallery’s support for New City Radio and its application to obtain a community radio licence. MK Gallery is an educational charity bringing world class exhibitions, projects and events to local communities in Milton Keynes (MK).

In 2019 MK Gallery will reopen following a £12 million capital project. The new MK Gallery will launch with a season of exciting exhibitions that will attract audiences from across the UK and a bigger and better public events programme. Following our recent discussions, it is clear that there will be many opportunities for New City Radio to work with MK Gallery’s Curator of Public Programmes and associate artists to promote this activity

During our interim period, MK Gallery continues to deliver high quality arts experiences across MK via City Club. City Club is a programme of new art, performances, family activities and talks celebrating the 50th anniversary of Milton Keynes. City Club is produced in partnership with 10 local organisations; including Bletchley Park, Milton Keynes Arts Centre, MK:IF and The Open University. MK Gallery will benefit from an inclusive community radio station that will promote this programme to diverse audiences in Milton Keynes and surrounding areas.

In the coming year, the city’s cultural infrastructure will attract national attention. MK will submit an application to become the European Capital of Culture 2023. The application will be strengthened by a cohesive and connected arts scene in the city, which New City Radio will support. New City Radio will also become an important platform to provide updates about the bid process to local residents.

We look forward to working closely with New City Radio in the near future and wish you luck with the community radio licence application.

Kind Regards,

Kate Chadwick

Deputy Director
